Join us for our Economic Development Luncheon as we focus on the current supply chain crisis. This year?s luncheon's keynote speaker will be Amy Lovoi with International Paper and Dean Dan French with the College of Business at Lamar.
Born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, Amy Lovoi is the daughter of Paula and John Lovoi--local philanthropists and former owners of Lovoi & Sons Pharmacies, Inc. Through her parent?s example, Amy witnessed the value of service to one?s community, the importance of an education, and the desire to live an interesting life.
Following college graduation, Amy?s personal interests led her down a non-traditional path when she chose to relocate to South Africa. While in Johannesburg, a job at Linmark Westman Group of Companies sparked a desire to pursue a career in supply chain.
Upon returning to the United States, Amy held positions with Scope Imports, Sears Holding, and the Timberland Company. With over thirty years? experience in manufacturing, Amy has worked in more than 100 countries to become an expert in supply chain. Additionally, she has collaborated with and created products for celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Dave Matthews, Martha Steward, Steven Tyler, and Sting.
In 2010, Amy returned to Beaumont to work at the family?s pharmacy and pursue a postgraduate degree. In 2015, she obtained a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in leadership from Lamar University.
While attending Lamar, Amy was an active member of the President?s and College of Business Strategic Planning Committees which focused on long term goals for the university. She participated in Lamar?s study abroad program in China, and she studied in India with The University of Houston. Following her graduation, she served as Director of the Lamar Alumni Advisory Board.
In addition to her professional and educational pursuits, Amy has served as the 2016 Neches River Festival Social Chairman, the Symphony of Southeast Texas Executive Vice-President of Audience Development, and as the Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School Alumni Board President. She continues to be an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
In 2016, Amy departed Beaumont to work for the TJX Companies, Inc., one of the world?s leading off-price retailers with over 5,000 stores in nine countries. Following her tenure with TJX, Amy worked for Peak Achievements, Inc. (formerly owned by Nike) where she was responsible for innovation, development, sourcing, and manufacturing sports equipment.
Today, Amy works in global sourcing for International Paper and lives in Beaumont, Texas.
