Annual Trip to Washington D.C.

Each year, the Chamber president takes a trip to Washington D.C. to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce headquarters. While in Washington D.C. our leadership meets with U.S. Chamber officials as well as U.S. Congressmen to discuss pertinent issues to the Southeast Texas region.

The relationship with the Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Orange Chamber of Commerce has come into play during these annual trips. The three presidents travel together and attend the meetings as a collected group. This relationship allows us to be a united voice with common goals and interests to accomplish with the officials from the federal government and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

After Hurricane Rita made landfall on the Texas/Louisiana border in 2005, a partnership with the Southwest Louisiana Chamber of Commerce was formed. After sharing in the destruction and the aftermath of Rita, both regions, Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana, saw the potential to join together and become a more visible presence to lobby for federal support in Washington D.C. This relationship grew stronger and continues to be a prominent one the three Chambers in the Golden Triangle value greatly. Since 2005, the Southwest Louisiana Chamber of Commerce has joined the group from the Golden Triangle to Washington D.C. for the annual trip.
